The S-1 is constantly benefitting from extensive R&D in the lab and
more importantly, out on the water. For 2010 the focus has been
on increasing durability through the use of KS optic X-ply in the main
window panel and HD Dyneema X-ply in the foot and clew panels.
The shaping has been refined and the swing weight further reduced
improving manoeuvrability.
Product Ideology
• The S-1 is light, manoeuvrable and encompasses the latest
technological advances in Severne materials and shaping.
• It possesses a flatter profile and tighter skin tension
• The S-1 responds at light speed allowing for precision placement
of the rig for any wave or freestyle manoeuvre
Rig Ergonomics
Tighter skin tension and a crisp light feel with neutral pull
New for 2010
• The amount of monofilm in the sail has been halved. This has
been replaced with the twisted spectra and aramid structure of
KS Optic X-ply, increasing the durability and reducing the weight.
• e4 has been extended above the top batten to lighten the head of
the sail and to bring the swing weight down towards the rider.
• The foot panel has adopted the same bombproof HD Dyneema
X-ply used in the Blade
Compared other sails in the range
• BLADE: Crisper and lighter feel
• BLADE: Higher skin tension
• BLADE: A more neutral pull

• KS Optic X-ply in forward and rear window sections.
• Aramid Torsion Frame – a Kevlar perimeter for maximum strength.
• Heavy Duty 25mm double stitched window and impact area for
increased durability.
• Seamless foot construction with Pro-tect hidden seam load patches.
• CS X-ply with UV inhibitors for durable colour without increased
weight.
• 4 Mil X-Ply rig perimeter for maximum durability on the outer edges
of the rig.
Dyneema HD X-Ply :
The toughest material used in SEVERNE sails. The ‘Twisted-Fibre’
technology is utilised for maximum tear resistance. Large denier
Dyneema fibres are twisted with polyester fibres (resulting in a
1200+ denier combination) for unparalleled strength without fibre
creep. Tighter fibre spacing and thicker 5mil film add to the durability
and the white UV protection ensures longevity.
